2026-27 Pre-Season Swimming Options~Boys & Girls Team

Here is a breakdown of the different options for preparing for the upcoming season.  Please review and see which options work best for your individual situation. The unlimited Pre-season option would be for athletes who are signed up through Valparaiso Swim Club and USA Swimming (there is a fee and a volunteer requirement for the club option) for the Fall/Winter season. This allows us to avoid being limited by a set number of practices throughout the week. The practice schedule is on the calendar at www.valposwim.com. If you are not interested in signing up with Valparaiso Swim Club, you will fall under the IHSAA Limited Contact pre-season option. This group will start on Tuesday, September 22nd. We will follow the IHSAA Limited Contact policies, which limits us to meeting no more than 3 times a week for no more than 2 hours per meeting. The only requirement is that you MUST have a physical on file with the VHS athletic office to participate. We will continue that until each IHSAA official season starts for both Girls (October 26th) and Boys (November 9th), at which point we are no longer limited in our practices. The limited contact schedule is available on the calendar at www.valposwim.com. If you are not interested in pre-season, the 3rd option is to report on your respective team's first official day of practice.

3 Pre-Season Options

  1. Sign up with Valparaiso Swim Club & USA Swimming, allowing you to start on Monday, August 24th, with no practice restrictions. We are allowing a 1-week grace period to swim and get signed up. If you are not signed up by August 31st, you will not be able to participate in senior club until it is completed. You can find registration information at link below

https://www.gomotionapp.com/team/isvsc/page/team-registration. Your registration group will be "Senior Group".   Fees and volunteer requirements are set by Valparaiso Swim Club and cover all pre-season and post-season (from the end of the high school season to the end of the club season).  Also note that practices are run by the high school staff and will not run during night club practice times; they are run before School and right after school, just like high school season. The schedule is on www.valposwim.com. Once your official high school season starts, we are no longer governed by USA Swimming and Valparaiso Swim Club and will be governed by IHSAA and Valparaiso athletics rules and regulations.  All swimmers, no matter ability, will be allowed to attend all practices offered during the pre-season if signed up through Valpo Swim Club.  Once the high school season officially starts, practice groups could change based on availability, needs, and skill.

  2. Follow the IHSAA Limited Contact pre-season program. Because you are not registered with VSC and USA Swimming, we are limited to the IHSAA rules on practice times. Therefore, we will meet only 2-3 times a week, for no more than 2 hours per session. This will be the schedule until each team's season officially begins, at which point the practice time restrictions are lifted and we will move to a more traditional 5-6 days, possibly multiple practices a day, schedule. All schedules are on www.valposwim.com.

  3. No Pre-season at all. We will see you on the first official day of the season, Girls (October 26th) and Boys (November 9th).

Please Note

*Physicals are required no matter what for the first official start day of the season: Girls (October 26th) and Boys (November 9th). The only option that requires a physical before the official season starts is Limited Contact. Physicals are all completed on final forms.

*Pre-season is not required to be on the swim team. However, like everything else, the better prepared you are, the easier things will be. If you are new to swimming or joining the swim team for the first time, we recommend the limited-contact schedule to help you avoid feeling overwhelmed. You can always sign up for Valparaiso Swim Club if you choose once you start to get in shape.
